TDH Mission

At Total Hockey Development, our mission is to provide elite-level hockey training that empowers athletes to reach their full potential. With a foundation built on years of playing, coaching, and scouting experience, we are committed to developing players through expert instruction, innovative training methods, and a comprehensive approach to skill development.

We strive to create an environment where athletes of all levels can improve their game, compete at the highest levels, and gain the knowledge and tools needed for long-term success—whether in prep school, juniors, college, or professional hockey. Through dedication, passion, and a deep understanding of the game, Total Hockey Development is here to help players take the next step in their hockey journey.

Our beginnings

Chris Gragnano grew up playing hockey in Hazlet, New Jersey. He played high school at Christian Brothers Academy, where in his senior year he was named team captain. That year he was also named to the All-County and All-State teams. Upon graduation he went to Providence College. After some time with the Friars he went on to Vermont where he joined the Green Mountain Glades of the EJHL.

Upon graduation Chris moved to Connecticut and began his coaching career. Since 2007 he has coached many nationally ranked youth teams, has won Regional championships and has had several teams qualify for USA Hockey National Championships.

In 2012 Gragnano became an assistant coach for the CT Oilers (EJHL and EHL) and served as the organizations' Director of Hockey Operations. He has a great working knowledge of the Junior Hockey landscape and has countless connections.

Where we've been

Beginning in 2015, Chris was became an assistant coach at the Gunnery and in his time there they have won an Elite 8 New England Championship ('16), the Watkins Tournament ('16), the Avon Christmas Classic ('17 and '18), and the Simmons/Piatelli (Small School) Championship ('20)

Chris has been a skills instructor in the area over the last 15 years and is the owner of Total Hockey Development. Throughout the year Chris trains many high level players from prep schools, junior programs and colleges as well as professionals that play in Europe, ECHL, AHL and the NHL. In 2021 Chris was hired as the Assistant Skills Coordinator for the New Jersey Devils (NHL) and Utica Comets (AHL).


Chris serves many roles in addition to skills coaching. He is the Program Director and Head Coach for the Mid-Fairfield Midget teams and serves as regional scout for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders (USHL), Oklahoma Warriors (NAHL) and Surrey Eagles (BCHL).

With an outstanding background as a player and 20 years of teaching experience, Chris Gragnano brings both his passion and his expertise to the ice, helping develop your game.
